Description
Juicy and flavorful chicken meatballs seasoned with Mediterranean herbs, served with a cool and creamy homemade tzatziki sauce. Perfect for a healthy and delicious main course.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried mint
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cucumber, grated and drained
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill
- 1 small clove garlic, minced (for tzatziki)
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, breadcrumbs, red onion, 2 minced garlic cloves, egg, oregano, mint, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
- Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs (about 20–24).
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs in batches, cooking until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 10–12 minutes total. Remove and set aside.
- To make the tzatziki: In a medium bowl, combine Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, lemon juice, dill, 1 small minced garlic clove, and salt to taste. Stir well.
- Serve the meatballs warm with a generous dollop of tzatziki on top or on the side.
Notes
You can customize the seasonings to taste. For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free breadcrumbs. Tzatziki can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 2 days.
