Description

Juicy and flavorful chicken meatballs seasoned with Mediterranean herbs, served with a cool and creamy homemade tzatziki sauce. Perfect for a healthy and delicious main course.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried mint
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cucumber, grated and drained
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill
  • 1 small clove garlic, minced (for tzatziki)
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, breadcrumbs, red onion, 2 minced garlic cloves, egg, oregano, mint, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  2. Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs (about 20–24).
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs in batches, cooking until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 10–12 minutes total. Remove and set aside.
  4. To make the tzatziki: In a medium bowl, combine Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, lemon juice, dill, 1 small minced garlic clove, and salt to taste. Stir well.
  5. Serve the meatballs warm with a generous dollop of tzatziki on top or on the side.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste. For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free breadcrumbs. Tzatziki can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 2 days.
