Description
A warm, gooey baked brie topped with sweet caramelized apples and a hint of fresh thyme, wrapped in golden puff pastry. Perfect for a festive appetizer or a cozy gathering.
Ingredients
- 1 (8-ounce) wheel of brie cheese
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 2 medium apples (such as Honeycrisp or Granny Smith), peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves, plus extra for garnish
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for dusting)
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add apples, brown sugar, and a pinch of salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until apples are tender and caramelized, about 8-10 minutes. Stir in thyme leaves and remove from heat.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out puff pastry to a 10-inch square. Place brie in the center. Top with half of the caramelized apples.
- Fold pastry corners over the brie and apples, pinching seams to seal. Brush with beaten egg. Place on prepared baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.
- Let cool for 5 minutes. Top with remaining caramelized apples and garnish with fresh thyme. Serve warm with crackers or bread.
