Description

Crisp golden edges, soft apple-cinnamon centers, and a sweet glaze that makes them impossible to stop at one. These bite-sized fritters are a perfect fall treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups finely chopped apples (such as Granny Smith)
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk or apple cider

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, beat milk, eggs, and vanilla. Pour into dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in chopped apples.
  3. Heat 2 inches of oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C). Drop tablespoonfuls of batter into hot oil, frying in batches for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  4. Whisk powdered sugar and milk or cider until smooth. Drizzle glaze over warm fritters. Serve immediately.
