Description

A flavorful and aromatic garlic bread topped with juicy tomatoes and fresh basil, perfect as a side or appetizer.


Ingredients

  • 1 French baguette or ciabatta loaf
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large tomatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, mix softened butter, minced garlic, chopped basil, oregano, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. Slice the baguette in half lengthwise and place cut side up on the prepared baking sheet. Spread the butter mixture evenly over both halves.
  4. Layer tomato slices over the buttered bread. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses on top.
  5. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Remove from oven, let cool slightly, then slice into pieces and serve warm.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste. For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or swap mozzarella for provolone.
