Description
A festive and flaky appetizer featuring spinach, feta, and cranberries wrapped in golden puff pastry, shaped like Christmas trees. Perfect for holiday parties!
Ingredients
- 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
- 10 oz frozen spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
- 1 cup crumbled feta cheese
- 1/2 cup dried cranberries, chopped
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- All-purpose flour, for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix spinach, feta, cranberries, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- On a floured surface, roll out one puff pastry sheet into a 10×10-inch square. Cut into a large triangle (tree shape) using a template or freehand. Repeat with second sheet.
- Spread the spinach mixture evenly over one triangle, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Brush edges with egg wash. Place the second triangle on top and press edges to seal. Use a knife to cut horizontal slits on both sides to create branches, leaving the center intact.
- Transfer to prepared baking sheet. Brush the top with egg wash. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown and puffed.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Cut into slices along the slits.
Notes
You can customize the seasonings to taste. For extra flair, sprinkle with sesame seeds before baking.
