Description
Flaky puff pastry filled with a creamy spinach and feta mixture, baked until golden brown for a delicious and easy appetizer.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 5 ounces fresh spinach, chopped
- 4 ounces feta cheese, crumbled
- 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté onion until soft, about 3 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Add spinach to the skillet and cook until wilted, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a bowl, combine the spinach mixture, feta cheese, cream cheese, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut into 12 equal squares.
- Place a spoonful of the spinach-feta mixture in the center of each square. Fold the corners over the filling and pinch to seal.
- Arrange bites on the prepared baking sheet. Brush tops with beaten egg wash.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown. Serve warm.
