Description

These bite-sized Greek meatballs are packed with Mediterranean flavors like oregano, mint, and garlic, and served with a cool, creamy tzatziki dipping sauce. Perfect as an appetizer or party snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground lamb or beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh mint
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 large egg
  • For Tzatziki: 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cucumber, grated and squeezed dry
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh dill
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, red onion, garlic, parsley, mint, oregano, cumin, salt, pepper, and egg. Mix gently until just combined.
  3. Roll mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through and lightly browned.
  5. While meatballs bake, prepare tzatziki: In a medium bowl, mix Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, garlic, lemon juice, dill, salt, and pepper. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
  6. Serve meatballs warm with tzatziki dipping sauce.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste. For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper. These meatballs can also be pan-fried in olive oil over medium heat for 8-10 minutes until browned and cooked through.
