Description
These bite-sized Greek meatballs are packed with Mediterranean flavors like oregano, mint, and garlic, and served with a cool, creamy tzatziki dipping sauce. Perfect as an appetizer or party snack.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground lamb or beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh mint
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 large egg
- For Tzatziki: 1 cup Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cucumber, grated and squeezed dry
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh dill
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, red onion, garlic, parsley, mint, oregano, cumin, salt, pepper, and egg. Mix gently until just combined.
- Roll mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through and lightly browned.
- While meatballs bake, prepare tzatziki: In a medium bowl, mix Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, garlic, lemon juice, dill, salt, and pepper. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
- Serve meatballs warm with tzatziki dipping sauce.
Notes
You can customize the seasonings to taste. For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper. These meatballs can also be pan-fried in olive oil over medium heat for 8-10 minutes until browned and cooked through.
