Description
Crispy, savory pastries filled with spinach and feta cheese, inspired by Mediterranean flavors.
Ingredients
- 1 package (10 oz) frozen spinach, thawed and drained
- 1 cup crumbled feta cheese
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 package (16 oz) phyllo dough, thawed
- 1/2 cup melted butter or olive oil for brushing
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté onion and garlic until softened, about 5 minutes. Add spinach, oregano, and pepper, cooking for another 3 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in feta cheese.
- Lay one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface. Brush lightly with melted butter or olive oil. Place another sheet on top and brush again. Cut the stacked sheets into 3-inch wide strips.
- Place a tablespoon of the spinach-feta mixture at one end of each strip. Fold the corner over the filling to form a triangle, then continue folding in a triangular pattern to seal. Repeat with remaining phyllo and filling.
- Arrange crisps on the baking sheet. Brush tops with more butter or oil. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Serve warm.
