A decadent fusion dessert combining creamy cheesecake with the nutty, honey-soaked layers of baklava, topped with crunchy pistachios.
Ingredients
- 1 cup shelled pistachios, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 sheet frozen phyllo dough, thawed
- Cooking spray or extra butter for greasing
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan with cooking spray or butter.
- In a bowl, mix chopped pistachios, honey, melted butter, cinnamon, and cardamom. Set aside.
- In another bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla until smooth and creamy.
- Layer half the phyllo dough in the pan, brushing lightly with melted butter between sheets. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the phyllo.
- Sprinkle the pistachio-honey mixture over the cream cheese layer, then top with remaining phyllo sheets, brushing with butter between each.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and set. Let cool completely before cutting into bars.
