Description

A vibrant, shareable appetizer featuring creamy feta cheese drizzled with spicy hot honey and topped with crispy fried onions, served with fresh vegetables, olives, and warm pita bread.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz block of feta cheese
  • 1/4 cup hot honey (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 cup mixed olives (Kalamata and green)
  • 1 cucumber, sliced
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves
  • 4 pieces pita bread, warmed
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp dried oregano

Instructions

  1. Pat the feta cheese dry and place it in the center of a large serving board or platter.
  2. In a bowl, toss the sliced onions with flour until coated. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and fry the onions until golden and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Drain on paper towels and season with salt.
  3. Arrange the olives, cucumber slices, cherry tomatoes, and mint leaves around the feta on the board. Place warm pita bread on the side.
  4. Sprinkle the feta with dried oregano, black pepper, and a pinch of salt. Drizzle the hot honey generously over the feta and vegetables.
  5. Top the feta with the crispy fried onions just before serving to maintain crunch. Serve immediately.
