Ingredients
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese
- 1 small red onion, finely grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- For the Tzatziki:
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cucumber, grated and squeezed dry
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, breadcrumbs, feta, onion, minced garlic, egg, dill, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined; do not overwork.
- Using wet hands, form the mixture into 1.5-inch meatballs (about 16-20).
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs in batches and cook, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides and cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F), about 10-12 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- For the tzatziki: In a medium bowl, combine Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, garlic, dill, lemon juice, and salt. Stir until well blended. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
- Serve meatballs with tzatziki sauce on the side.
Notes
You can customize the seasonings to taste. For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free breadcrumbs. The tzatziki can be made a day ahead to let the flavors meld.
