Description

Juicy, flavorful Greek chicken meatballs seasoned with herbs and feta, served with a cool and creamy homemade tzatziki sauce. Perfect for a weeknight dinner or as an appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1 small red onion, finely grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • For the Tzatziki:
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cucumber, grated and squeezed dry
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, breadcrumbs, feta, onion, minced garlic, egg, dill, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined; do not overwork.
  2. Using wet hands, form the mixture into 1.5-inch meatballs (about 16-20).
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs in batches and cook, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides and cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F), about 10-12 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  4. For the tzatziki: In a medium bowl, combine Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, garlic, dill, lemon juice, and salt. Stir until well blended. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
  5. Serve meatballs with tzatziki sauce on the side.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste. For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free breadcrumbs. The tzatziki can be made a day ahead to let the flavors meld.
