Description

Juicy and flavorful chicken meatballs seasoned with Mediterranean herbs, served with a cool and creamy homemade tzatziki sauce. Perfect for a healthy and delicious main course.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • For the tzatziki: 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cucumber, grated and squeezed dry
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, breadcrumbs, red onion, garlic, egg, oregano, dill, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Form the mixture into 1.5-inch meatballs and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Drizzle meatballs with olive oil and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature reaches 165°F).
  5. While meatballs bake, prepare the tzatziki: In a medium bowl, combine Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, garlic, fresh dill, lemon juice, and salt. Stir well and refrigerate until serving.
  6. Serve meatballs warm with tzatziki sauce on the side.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste. For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free breadcrumbs. The tzatziki can be made a day ahead for better flavor.
