Description

Juicy seasoned beef, fresh veggies, and a creamy roasted garlic feta sauce are wrapped in warm pita and finished with a drizzle of spicy hot honey for a perfect balance of savory, tangy, and sweet heat.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 head roasted garlic (about 6-8 cloves, mashed)
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
  • 4 large pita breads
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/2 cup sliced cucumber
  • 1/4 cup sliced red onion
  • 1/4 cup kalamata olives, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce (e.g., sriracha)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Wrap the garlic head in foil with a drizzle of olive oil and roast for 30 minutes until soft. Set aside to cool.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the honey and hot sauce to make the hot honey. Set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, oregano, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook, breaking up the meat, until browned and cooked through, about 8 minutes. Remove from heat and keep warm.
  4. In a medium bowl, combine the roasted garlic cloves (mashed), feta cheese, Greek yogurt, lemon juice, and fresh dill. Mix well to form a creamy sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Warm the pita breads in a dry skillet or in the oven for a few minutes until pliable.
  6. To assemble each wrap, spread a generous spoonful of the feta sauce on the pita. Top with a portion of the cooked beef, then add cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, and olives. Drizzle with the prepared hot honey.
  7. Fold the pita over the filling and serve immediately, with extra sauce on the side if desired.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste. For a milder sauce, reduce the hot sauce. You can also substitute chicken or lamb for the beef.
