Description
Crispy, golden phyllo rolls filled with creamy feta cheese, baked to perfection and drizzled with a sweet and tangy cranberry honey sauce. A delightful appetizer or snack that combines savory and sweet flavors.
Ingredients
- 8 sheets phyllo dough, thawed
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 8 oz feta cheese, crumbled
- 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup dried cranberries
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, combine crumbled feta, cream cheese, dill, and black pepper. Mix until well blended.
- Lay one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush lightly with melted butter. Place another sheet on top and brush again. Repeat until you have a stack of 4 sheets. Cut the stack into 4 equal strips lengthwise. Repeat with the remaining 4 phyllo sheets to create 8 strips total.
- Place a generous tablespoon of the feta mixture at the end of each phyllo strip. Fold the sides over the filling, then roll up tightly to form a small roll. Place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with remaining melted butter.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.
- While the rolls bake, make the cranberry honey sauce. In a small saucepan, combine dried cranberries, honey, lemon juice, orange zest, and water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, then reduce to low and cook for 5-7 minutes, until cranberries plump and sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat.
- To serve, arrange the baked feta rolls on a platter and drizzle generously with the warm cranberry honey sauce. Serve immediately.
Notes
You can customize the seasonings to taste. For a spicier version, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the feta mixture. The cranberry honey sauce can be made ahead and reheated.
