Description
A warm and gooey wheel of brie cheese baked until golden, topped with sweet caramelized apples and fresh thyme. Perfect as an appetizer for any gathering.
Ingredients
- 1 (8 ounce) wheel of brie cheese
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 medium apples, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves, plus more for garnish
- 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add apples, brown sugar, vinegar, and cinnamon. Cook until apples are tender and caramelized, about 8-10 minutes. Stir in fresh thyme and remove from heat.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Place the brie wheel in the center and top with the caramelized apple mixture.
- Fold the pastry over the brie, sealing the edges. Brush the top with the beaten egg.
- Place the wrapped brie on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown and puffed.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with extra thyme leaves and serve warm with crackers or sliced baguette.
