Description

A delightful appetizer or snack featuring buttery puff pastry topped with creamy brie, tart dried cranberries, and crunchy toasted walnuts. Perfect for holiday gatherings or a cozy night in.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 oz brie cheese, sliced into thin pieces
  • 1/3 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/3 cup walnuts, roughly chopped
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp honey (optional, for drizzling)
  • Fresh thyme leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet slightly to smooth it and even out the thickness. Cut into 4 equal rectangles or desired shapes.
  3. Place the pastry pieces on the prepared baking sheet. Using a knife, score a 1/2-inch border around each piece (do not cut all the way through).
  4. Prick the center area of each pastry with a fork to prevent puffing too much. Arrange brie slices evenly inside the borders.
  5. Sprinkle dried cranberries and chopped walnuts over the brie. Brush the edges of the pastry with beaten egg.
  6. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed. Let cool for 5 minutes.
  7. Drizzle with honey and garnish with fresh thyme if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste. For a savory twist, add a pinch of black pepper or rosemary. Make sure puff pastry is cold when baking for best flakiness.
