Description
A delightful appetizer or snack featuring buttery puff pastry topped with creamy brie, tart dried cranberries, and crunchy toasted walnuts. Perfect for holiday gatherings or a cozy night in.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 4 oz brie cheese, sliced into thin pieces
- 1/3 cup dried cranberries
- 1/3 cup walnuts, roughly chopped
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tbsp honey (optional, for drizzling)
- Fresh thyme leaves (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet slightly to smooth it and even out the thickness. Cut into 4 equal rectangles or desired shapes.
- Place the pastry pieces on the prepared baking sheet. Using a knife, score a 1/2-inch border around each piece (do not cut all the way through).
- Prick the center area of each pastry with a fork to prevent puffing too much. Arrange brie slices evenly inside the borders.
- Sprinkle dried cranberries and chopped walnuts over the brie. Brush the edges of the pastry with beaten egg.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed. Let cool for 5 minutes.
- Drizzle with honey and garnish with fresh thyme if desired. Serve warm.
Notes
You can customize the seasonings to taste. For a savory twist, add a pinch of black pepper or rosemary. Make sure puff pastry is cold when baking for best flakiness.
