Description
A delightful appetizer featuring buttery puff pastry topped with creamy brie, tart cranberries, and crunchy toasted walnuts. Perfect for holiday gatherings or any special occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 8 oz brie cheese, rind removed and sliced
- 1/2 cup whole berry cranberry sauce
- 1/2 cup walnuts, toasted and chopped
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry slightly to smooth creases. Transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
- Arrange brie slices evenly over the pastry, leaving a 1-inch border. Spread cranberry sauce over the brie, then sprinkle with toasted walnuts.
- Fold the edges of the pastry over the filling, pleating as needed. Brush the pastry edges with beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until pastry is puffed and golden brown. Let cool for 5 minutes, then sprinkle with fresh thyme if desired. Slice and serve warm.
Notes
You can customize the seasonings to taste. For extra flavor, drizzle with honey or add a pinch of rosemary. Make sure the puff pastry is thoroughly thawed but still cold for best flakiness.
