Description
A delightful appetizer featuring flaky puff pastry topped with creamy brie, tart cranberries, and crunchy toasted walnuts, perfect for holiday gatherings or a sophisticated snack.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 8 oz brie cheese, sliced into 1/4-inch thick pieces
- 1/2 cup dried cranberries
- 1/3 cup walnuts, chopped and toasted
- 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon honey (optional, for drizzling)
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet to about 1/8-inch thickness. Cut into 9 squares (approximately 3×3 inches each).
- Place the pastry squares on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Pierce each square several times with a fork to prevent excessive puffing.
- Arrange slices of brie evenly on each pastry square, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Sprinkle the dried cranberries and toasted walnuts over the brie.
- Brush the exposed pastry edges with the beaten egg wash.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed, and the brie is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes. If desired, drizzle with honey and garnish with fresh thyme leaves before serving.
Notes
You can customize the seasonings to taste. For a savory twist, add a sprinkle of black pepper or a pinch of rosemary.
