Description

A delightful appetizer featuring creamy whipped brie topped with sweet roasted strawberries, a kick of black pepper, and a drizzle of hot honey basil sauce. Perfect for summer gatherings or elegant parties.

Ingredients

  • 1 baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 8 oz brie cheese, rind removed, at room temperature
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 pint fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, plus more for garnish
  • 3 tablespoons hot honey
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet, brush with 2 tablespoons olive oil, and toast for 8-10 minutes until golden and crispy. Set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, combine brie and heavy cream. Using a hand mixer or whisk, whip until smooth and fluffy. Set aside.
  3. In a separate baking dish, toss strawberries with remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil, balsamic vinegar, honey, and salt. Roast for 15-20 minutes until softened and juicy, stirring once halfway.
  4. Spread a generous amount of whipped brie on each crostini. Top with roasted strawberries and their juices.
  5. In a small bowl, mix hot honey with sliced basil. Drizzle the mixture over the crostini.
  6. Sprinkle with freshly ground black pepper and serve immediately.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste. For a milder basil flavor, add it just before serving. If you prefer a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the hot honey drizzle.
