Description
A delightful appetizer featuring creamy whipped brie, sweet roasted strawberries, a kick of black pepper, and a drizzle of hot honey basil glaze over crispy crostini.
Ingredients
- 1 baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch thick rounds
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 8 oz brie cheese, rind removed, at room temperature
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 pint fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1/2 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, plus more for serving
- 1/4 cup hot honey (or regular honey mixed with a pinch of cayenne)
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, thinly sliced
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet, brush both sides with olive oil, and toast for 5-7 minutes until golden and crisp. Set aside.
- In a small bowl, combine strawberries, honey, balsamic vinegar, and a pinch of black pepper. Spread on a parchment-lined baking sheet in a single layer. Roast for 12-15 minutes until soft and caramelized, stirring once. Let cool slightly.
- In a food processor, blend brie and heavy cream until smooth and whipped. Season with a pinch of salt if desired.
- To assemble, spread a generous amount of whipped brie on each crostini. Top with roasted strawberries and a sprinkle of black pepper.
- Drizzle each crostini with hot honey and garnish with fresh basil slices. Serve immediately.
Notes
You can customize the seasonings to taste. For a milder version, use regular honey instead of hot honey.
