Description
A decadent dessert featuring tender baked apples filled with a creamy cheesecake mixture, topped with a crunchy streusel and a drizzle of caramel.
Ingredients
- 4 large apples (such as Honeycrisp or Fuji)
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup graham cracker crumbs
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- Caramel sauce, for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Core the apples, leaving the bottom intact, and scoop out some of the flesh to create a cavity. Chop the removed apple flesh and set aside.
- In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese, granulated sugar, egg, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until smooth. Fold in the chopped apple flesh.
- In a small bowl, mix the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and brown sugar until crumbly.
- Fill each apple cavity with the cheesecake mixture, packing it down gently. Top with the streusel mixture.
- Place the apples in a baking dish and add a little water to the bottom (about 1/4 inch). Bake for 30-35 minutes, until the apples are tender and the filling is set.
- Let cool slightly, then drizzle with caramel sauce if desired. Serve warm.
