Description

These cookies combine the creamy vanilla flavor of crème brûlée with a crispy, caramelized sugar topping, making them a quick and impressive dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, for topping
  • Kitchen torch or broiler for caramelizing

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, cream together butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in egg yolk and vanilla extract.
  3. Gradually add flour and salt, stirring until a soft dough forms. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on baking sheet, flattening slightly.
  4. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden. Let cool completely on a wire rack.
  5. Sprinkle a thin layer of brown sugar over each cookie. Use a kitchen torch to caramelize the sugar until bubbly and golden, or broil for 1-2 minutes, watching closely.
