Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 3 medium)
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- For the Dream Frosting:
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
- Mix in mashed bananas and sour cream until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just incorporated. Fold in chopped walnuts.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow cake to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
- For the frosting: In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla, beating until creamy.
- Spread frosting over cooled cake and sprinkle with chopped walnuts.
- Cut into squares and serve. Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
