Description

A warm and elegant dessert or appetizer featuring juicy pears baked with a medley of berries, drizzled with honey, topped with crunchy walnuts and creamy blue cheese. Perfect for autumn evenings or festive gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe but firm pears (such as Bosc or Anjou), halved and cored
  • 1 cup mixed berries (fresh or frozen, such as blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries)
  • 1/4 cup honey, plus extra for drizzling
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 cup blue cheese, crumbled
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish large enough to hold the pear halves in a single layer.
  2. Arrange the pear halves cut-side up in the baking dish. In a small bowl, mix the berries with 2 tablespoons of honey, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spoon the berry mixture over the pears, dividing evenly.
  3. Dot the pears and berries with the butter pieces. Drizzle the remaining 2 tablespoons of honey over the top.
  4. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the pears are tender and easily pierced with a fork. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle the walnuts and blue cheese over the warm pears. Drizzle with additional honey if desired, and garnish with fresh mint leaves. Serve warm.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste. For a less sweet version, reduce the honey. If blue cheese is too strong, try goat cheese or ricotta salata. Serve with a dollop of Greek yogurt or vanilla ice cream for extra indulgence.
