Description
A elegant and simple dessert featuring sweet baked pears topped with a mixture of berries, honey, walnuts, and tangy blue cheese. Perfect for a special occasion or a cozy night in.
Ingredients
- 4 ripe but firm pears (such as Bosc or Anjou)
- 1 cup mixed berries (fresh or frozen)
- 4 tablespoons honey
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, for greasing
- Optional: fresh thyme or rosemary for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
- Cut pears in half lengthwise and scoop out the seeds with a melon baller or spoon. Place pears cut-side up in the baking dish.
- Drizzle 2 tablespoons of honey over the pears. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until pears are tender and slightly caramelized.
- While pears bake, in a small bowl, combine berries, remaining honey, and walnuts. Toss gently.
- Remove pears from oven and spoon the berry mixture into the hollowed centers of the pears. Sprinkle crumbled blue cheese on top.
- Return to oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, until cheese is slightly melted and berries are warm.
- Serve warm, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
Notes
You can customize the seasonings to taste. For a different flavor, try feta or goat cheese instead of blue cheese. If using frozen berries, no need to thaw.
