Description
A delightful and elegant appetizer featuring creamy Brie cheese, tart cranberries, and crunchy walnuts baked in a golden, flaky puff pastry.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 8 ounces Brie cheese, rind removed (or left on for stronger flavor)
- 1/4 cup dried cranberries
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts, lightly toasted
- 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon honey (optional, for drizzling)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unroll the thawed puff pastry onto the prepared baking sheet. If using a block of Brie, cut it into 1/2-inch slices. Arrange the Brie slices in the center of the puff pastry, leaving a 1-inch border on all sides.
- Sprinkle the dried cranberries and toasted walnuts evenly over the Brie cheese.
- Fold the edges of the puff pastry over the filling, creating an enclosure. You can create a rustic fold or crimp the edges for a more decorative look.
- Brush the top and sides of the puff pastry with the beaten egg wash for a golden finish.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and puffed, and the Brie is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. Optionally, drizzle with honey before serving.
Notes
You can customize the seasonings to taste. For a sweeter version, add a sprinkle of brown sugar with the cranberries. A pinch of fresh thyme also pairs well with Brie.
