Description

A delightful and elegant appetizer featuring creamy Brie cheese, tart cranberries, and crunchy walnuts baked in a golden, flaky puff pastry.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 8 ounces Brie cheese, rind removed (or left on for stronger flavor)
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts, lightly toasted
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional, for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the thawed puff pastry onto the prepared baking sheet. If using a block of Brie, cut it into 1/2-inch slices. Arrange the Brie slices in the center of the puff pastry, leaving a 1-inch border on all sides.
  3. Sprinkle the dried cranberries and toasted walnuts evenly over the Brie cheese.
  4. Fold the edges of the puff pastry over the filling, creating an enclosure. You can create a rustic fold or crimp the edges for a more decorative look.
  5. Brush the top and sides of the puff pastry with the beaten egg wash for a golden finish.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and puffed, and the Brie is melted and bubbly.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. Optionally, drizzle with honey before serving.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste. For a sweeter version, add a sprinkle of brown sugar with the cranberries. A pinch of fresh thyme also pairs well with Brie.
