Description

Tender, marinated chicken cooked to perfection and wrapped in warm pita with a tangy, creamy feta tzatziki sauce, fresh veggies, and Mediterranean flavors.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, sliced into strips
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 4 large pita breads
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup sliced red onion
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated cucumber, squeezed dry
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tsp lemon zest


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. Add chicken strips, toss to coat, and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. While chicken marinates, make the tzatziki: mix Greek yogurt, feta, grated cucumber, dill, and lemon zest in a bowl. Chill until ready to use.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken strips for 6-8 minutes until browned and cooked through.
  4. Warm pita breads in the skillet or oven for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Assemble gyros: spread tzatziki on each pita, add lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, and cooked chicken. Fold or wrap and serve immediately.
