Description

A sophisticated salad featuring sweet caramelized pears, tangy blue cheese, and crunchy walnuts on a bed of fresh greens, drizzled with a balsamic vinaigrette.


Ingredients

  • 2 ripe pears, cored and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 6 cups mixed salad greens (e.g., arugula, spinach, romaine)
  • 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, toasted
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and black pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and brown sugar. Add pear slices and cook for 5-7 minutes until caramelized and tender. Set aside to cool.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together balsamic vinegar, olive oil, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper to make the vinaigrette.
  3. In a large salad bowl, toss mixed greens with half of the vinaigrette. Top with caramelized pears, blue cheese, and toasted walnuts. Drizzle with remaining vinaigrette and serve immediately.
