Description

A sophisticated salad featuring sweet caramelized pears, tangy blue cheese, and crunchy walnuts over fresh greens, drizzled with a balsamic vinaigrette.


Ingredients

  • 2 ripe pears, cored and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 6 cups mixed salad greens (e.g., arugula, spinach, romaine)
  • 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, toasted
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and black pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and brown sugar. Add pear slices and cook for 5-7 minutes until caramelized and tender. Remove from heat and let cool.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together balsamic vinegar, olive oil, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper to make the vinaigrette.
  3. In a large salad bowl, toss the mixed greens with half of the vinaigrette until evenly coated.
  4. Arrange the caramelized pears on top of the greens, then sprinkle with blue cheese and toasted walnuts.
  5. Drizzle the remaining vinaigrette over the salad and serve immediately.
